A change in shape.
A different function.

Project idea

Use geometry
to manage limited space.

The proposal explores a compact folded structure for navigation and an expanded wedge shape for a potential clot-removal application. Folding is the organizing idea: the same structure would serve different purposes before and after deployment.

I am collaborating on the concept with Everett Liggett, Jaden Alston, Zipeng Guo, and Hugh Cameron.

01 / Fold

Compact configuration

Explore a geometry that occupies less space before deployment.

02 / Guide

External magnetic control

Investigate magnetic material or an attached magnet as a proposed means of positioning the structure.

03 / Deploy

Temperature response

Explore a material response that could unfold the structure into a wedge at a chosen temperature.

Current scope

A proposal with
open engineering questions.

The pre-proposal establishes an intended mechanism and a literature-research direction. It does not establish a working device or successful clot removal.

Open questions include material behavior, fold geometry, magnetic controllability, deployment timing, interaction with flow, and how the structure would be retrieved or otherwise managed after use. These questions guide the next stage of the project.
